ABBA Are Heading Back To Australia... But One Small Problem
It’s been 40 years since ABBA-mania first hit Australia, and they’re about to head Down Under to do it all again.
In 2019, the Swedish super group have Australia in their sights for a fresh tour… except Agnetha Fältskog, Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad will appear as holograms.
We’re not actually kidding. Holograms.
Yeah, despite all band members still alive and kicking, their avatars (or, as is being reported, ABBA-tars, sorry) will be projected alongside a live band in ABBA DIGITAL.
Newscorp reports that ABBA’s vocals will be taken from recordings, and the holograms will be based on how the band members looked in 1979.
“It’s perfect. We can be on stage while I’m home walking the dogs,” Andersson, 70, said.
“I don’t have to leave my house. If this really works there’ll be a lot of artists wanting to do the same thing, even artists who are still young and still touring. It’s a very interesting project.”
