Dolly Parton's "Coat of Many Colors"
Dolly Parton will serve as executive producer for the TV movie Coat of Many Colors, based on her 1971 hit of the same name, NBC announced Sunday.
The song is the true story of how her mother once stitched together a coat for her out of rags and told her the biblical story of Joseph and his Coat of Many Colors. When Dolly excitedly showed off the new coat at school, her classmates teased her for wearing rags.
NBC says, "This once-in-a-lifetime movie special takes us inside the tight-knit Parton family as they struggle to overcome devastating tragedy and discover the healing power of love, faith, and a raggedy patchwork coat that helped make Dolly who she is today."
The original coat is now on display in Parton’s Chasing Rainbows Museum at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
No airdate or cast has been announced.
