Netflix's 'When They See Us' Is Your Next True Crime Fix

Netflix viewers have taken to social media to express their heartbreaking reactions to Ava Duvernay's 'When They See Us'.

The four part miniseries follows the true story of five black and Latino teenagers from Harlem - known as the Central Park Five - who were coerced into confessing to a rape they didn't commit in 1989.

The new series - which was released on Netflix on Friday - has left viewers in tears over the honest depiction of the outrageous case.

One user wrote: "im watching when they see us and i can literally feel my heart breaking + the fact that this actually happened wtf man."

Another added: "When They See Us on Netflix is purely art. words can’t explain how sad and dehumanizing the judicial system in America is. This show is just.. wow."

Some celebrities have also come forward to express their feelings about the mini-series.

"More WHEN THEY SEE US ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️please go watch it, it’s so powerful and important. Thank you @ava for sharing this story that needs to be told," singer Hayley Kiyoko tweeted.

All four episodes of When They See Us are available on Netflix now.
