Simon Cowell's Home Burgled While He And His Family Slept
Simon Cowell was left "traumatised" after his London mansion was burgled as he and his family were sleeping inside.
The TV mogul was targeted by a thief in the early hours of Friday morning while he and girlfriend Lauren Silverman, along with their young son Eric, were asleep in the $56 million (£35 million) mansion in Holland Park.
Editors of British newspaper The Sun report the burglar cracked a safe, and stole sentimental valuables, cash and jewellery.
A security guard alerted police to the break-in, but the thief had fled the scene before officers arrived.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman says, "Police were called to an address in W14 on Friday, 4 December, at approximately 02:20hrs to reports of a burglary in progress. Officers attended the scene but the suspect had left the area."
A source tells The Sun that Cowell was left traumatised by the break-in, adding, "Simon is just relieved that his family was safe and all right. Their safety is his number one priority."
Police officers confirmed no arrests had been made, but inquiries are ongoing.
It is not the first time that Cowell has been targeted by thieves - in March 2012, a woman broke into his home by using a brick to smash a window, and then hid in a wardrobe. She was found by police officers, and later handed a 12-month community order.
A representative for Cowell has yet to comment on the burglary report
