The BIG Reason Wonder Woman 2 Might Not Happen
Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot is threatening to walk from the movie's sequel unless accused Hollywood sexual harasser Brett Ratner is given the flick.
According to a report on the New York Post’s Page Six, last month Gadot backed out of a dinner honouring Ratner, where she was due to present him with an award, and now she’s threatening to walk from the franchise unless something is done.
Ratner’s production company RatPac-Dune Entertainment helped produce Wonder Woman as part of its co-financing deal with Warner Bros.
His production company took a healthy share of the movie's profits, which grossed more than $522 million, so it's unlikely he'd be jumping ship before the movie's second instalment.
However, if Ratner stays on for the sequel, the sequel could stop dead in its tracks.
"Brett made a lot of money from the success of Wonder Woman, thanks to his company having helped finance the first movie," a Warner Bros. insider reportedly said.
"Now, Gadot is saying she won’t sign for the sequel unless Warner Bros. buys Brett out [of his financing deal] and gets rid of him.”
The source also said that tough and stood by her principles.
"She also knows the best way to hit people like Brett Ratner is in the wallet," they said.
"She also knows that Warner Bros. has to side with her on this issue as it develops... they can’t have a movie rooted in women’s empowerment being part-financed by a man accused of sexual misconduct against women.”
