Robbie's Quokka Selfie Gives Federer's The Grand Slam
Australian actress Margot Robbie has just beaten the pants off tennis legend, Roger Federer.
On Monday, Oscar-nominated Robbie took an obligatory selfie with a quokka (or as one commenter called it, a ‘selfie animal’), while checking out Rottnest Island in WA.
You'll remember back in December, Federer posted a similar selfie when he was in Perth for the Hopman Cup, which was considered a major plug for WA tourism.
Federer’s post went bonkers, attracting more than half a million likes.
In less than 24 hours, Robbie’s post has eclipsed Federer’s with more than 1.7 million likes.
It's understood she made the flying visit out west to see her film director husband, Tom Ackerley, who is working in WA.
PerthNow reported that the WA tourism minister Paul Papalia said the idea had been floated with Robbie and was "delighted" when he saw the post, particularly after attempts to get Ed Sheeran to have a #quokkaselfie hadn't worked out.
“We hope it becomes the thing you do as a celebrity visiting WA,” he said.
“It’s unique. There’s only one place in the world where you can get a quokka selfie.”
