Bowie's "Class" and "Elegance" Inspired The Joker

Since he's both a musician and an actor, it makes sense that Jared Leto would look to the music world for inspiration with his work in film.
In the case of his portrayal of The Joker in Suicide Squad, the Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman says he was in part inspired by the Thin White Duke himself, David Bowie.
"I spoke to a writer and we discussed David Bowie a bit, not necessarily the music of David, but his class, his elegance, his timelessness," Leto tells NME. "I don't wanna say who the guy was, but he's a famous writer in the world of DC [Comics]. Bowie was definitely one of the people we spoke about."
"I think David Bowie is probably an inspiration for almost anything you could do creatively," he adds.
Perhaps we'll hear Bowie's influence on Leto's music when Thirty Seconds of Mars shares their new material, which is due out in 2017.
Suicide Squad is out now.
