Gene Simmons Led Zep in Disco Hall of Fame

KISS received the ASCAP Founders Awards this week presented by Dave Grohl. In his speech Gene Simmons lobbied for a place in Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for a group that, for many, time has forgotten - Humble Pie.

The band were a very poplular live act throughout the 1970s and into the early '80s. Humble Pie was fronted by the late Steve Marriott, who went into the Rock Hall a couple of years ago, but with his previous group, Small Faces. Peter Frampton, who hasn't yet gotten the call from the Hall as a solo artist, was the original lead guitarist. Although they were heard on FM radio in the early '70s, they never put a single in the Top 50 their two highest charters both peaked at number-52.

Gene Simmons has a problem with Madonna being in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame when Humble Pie are not included.

“It doesn’t begin with us. It doesn’t end with us. We will always point the finger to what came before – to Humble Pie. They’re not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but Madonna is. Humble Pie is not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Are you kidding me? I just want to know when Led Zeppelin is getting in the Disco Hall of Fame.”
