Roseanne Reboot A MASSIVE Hit In The US
As far as reboots go, it was either going to bomb or be HUGE.
After 21 years, Roseanne made its return to the small screen.
And it wasn't huge. At 18.1 million viewers and a 5.1 rating in the key demo, it was goddam gargantuan.
For perspective, the recent Will & Grace reboot premiered with a 3.0 rating in the key demo and just over 10 million viewers.
Like Will & Grace, the same cast, including Roseanne Barr as the matriarch of the working-class Conner family, was brought back.
John Goodman (Dan), Sara Gilbert (Darlene), Laurie Metcalf (Jackie), Michael Fishman (D.J.) and Lecy Goranson (Becky) have all reprised their roles.
Politics featured heavily, which has driven a wedge between Roseanne and her on-screen sister Jackie, who wore a “Nasty Woman” t-shirt and greeted her with a “What’s up, deplorable?” pointing to Roseanne as a Trump supporter.
