Billy Connolly: "I’ve Got Cancer And Parkinson’s"
Legendary funnyman Billy Connolly has appeared in a new video for Comic Relief in the UK, to encourage viewers to donate in support of those affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia.
“Hello, Billy Connolly here asking for your cash. Not for me obviously. I’ve got cancer and Parkinson’s and I definitely need a haircut,” he began.
Connolly then introduced three everyday people whose lives have all been affected by dementia and Alzheimer’s in various ways.
Despite the emotional topic, the hilarious comedian was still able to raise a smile.
"For those who don’t know me, I’m the hilarious comedian with a weird beard who once took all of his clothes off for comic relief. But that’s not what matters, what matters is you at home and this amazing power to change someone’s life. To give them hope and happiness."
Connolly was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2013 just weeks before undergoing surgery for prostate cancer.
While there's not yet a cure for Parkinson’s, Connolly says he has taken a a ‘screw it, let’s get on with it’ approach to the disease.
Keep fighting Billy.
