Moment A Stranger Saves Dog From Elevator Strangulation

This was one close call.

A distracted dog owner was caught on CCTV entering a hotel lift with his dog in tow in South Carolina... the only problem? The doors shut before the leashed pup Boo Boo could enter.

What happens next will have any animal lover wishing they could reach into their screen and intervene.

Thankfully the timing could not be more perfect for hotel manager, Ben Duke, to step out of the storage closet.

His quick thinking and strength saw him grab the dog and tug on the leash until the ultimate moment when the cord snapped with the resistance.

Any longer and the poor dog wouldn't have stood a chance.

Poor Boo Boo got the fright of his life and even fought back against Duke, but thankfully the hotel manager persisted in his rescue efforts.

"I have no clue [what happened in those moments]. I was praying and pulling as hard as I could," he wrote on his Facebook post.

As for the owner?

He was a regular at the hotel and returned to the lobby in tears - no doubt fearing the worst for poor Boo Boo.

"He was very gracious and thankful for what I did," Duke wrote.

"The dog was like their kid."
