Pet Shelter Has Harry Potter Theme To Help Dogs Get Adopted
In a unique to help homeless pups find a new family, an animal shelter has come up with an amazing idea, sorting dogs into one of the four Hogwarts houses!
A Florida animal shelter noticed that a lot of people tend to look more at a dogs breed rather than their personality when deciding on a pet, so they took inspiration from the Harry Potter Sorting Hat in an effort to help them get adopted.
Pet Alliance Orlando has sorted the doggos based on their own unique personality, and just like the Sorting Hat they have a sophisticated system for working out which dog belongs where.
Executive director Stephen Bardy said,
“Our animal behaviorist, Diane Andersen, (and Harry Potter guru), created a test using toys that represent different qualities of each house."
"The dogs are tested individually similar to the Sorting Hat process in the novels. In our case, the dog’s choice of toy indicates his house, not the Sorting Hat – but we do have one on hand,”
The shelter has taken the characteristics of each house, Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw, to relate them to all the dogs currently in their care.
Each dog receives a house banner for their kennel, and every potential adopter will know which house they belong to.
They’ve even created a quiz for dog owners just in case you’re wondering what your fur kids is.
