Red Symons Speaks About His Son Samuel To Australian Story
After a lifetime battle with cancer, Red Symons' 27-year-old son Samuel, died last week.
On Monday, Australian Story replayed an episode that originally aired in 2010 where Samuel, Red and his ex-wife, Elly Symons, spoke about his journey after being diagnosed with brain cancer aged only four.
Red Symons, 69, spoke candidly how learning of Samuel's brain tumour was one of the worst moments of his life.
"It was the first, most awful moment of my life," he said.
"I can remember calling my father in tears and saying, 'He has to have brain surgery. He's four years old.'
"It's...it's still too awful to contemplate, so I don't."
The episode, which has been updated to pay tribute to Samuel, is available to watch in full on ABC iView
