The Gable Tostee 60 Minutes Clip That Has Sent Social Media
The Nine Network is copping backlash over its decision to pay Gable Tostee a rumoured six-figure-sum for a tell all interview with 60 Minutes.
A short snippet of the interview which is set to air on Sunday has angered viewers who took to social media to question why the 28-year-old should profit over Warriena Wright’s death.
Last month a court found Mr Tostee not guilty of the murder and manslaughter of Ms Wright who died after falling from her Tinder date's Gold Coast balcony.
In the short snippet Mr Tostee was asked: “Can you understand why many people would think you’re a cold, heartless, cruel bastard?”
“When you put it that way, umm,” Tostee replied, before the interview appeared to be cut.
It’s understood 60 Minutes secured the interview after a bidding war with Seven’s Sunday Night.
In the clip which aired last night Mr Tostee tell 60 Minutes: “(she) was a guest in my home,” and “it wasn’t supposed to be this.”
“I restrained her to stop her from attacking me,” he said.
“I don’t know what else to do. I wanted it to stop."
One Twitter user questioned the current affairs program for paying Mr Tostee, writing: "If 60 Minutes had any credibility left it has lost it paying for the Tostee interview. Can't believe he profits from her death as well."
Another claimed the show and Mr Tostee were being disrespectful to Ms Wright's family by airing the story.
