Apparently There Are Three Different Types Of Porn Users

As well as studying things like genetic modification and how to end world hunger, scientists also seem to spend an awful lot of time figuring out how we like to get freaky, why we like to get freaky and if the way we get freaky is a little too, eh, freaky.

And now a study out of Université Laval in Quebec, which was looking for variations in the way we watch porn, has found that our horny habits can be linked to our sexual - and mental - well-being.

Depending on the length of time they spent watching porn during the study, researchers divided the 830 participants (the majority of which identified as heterosexual) into three categories: recreational users, distressed users and compulsive users.

The first, recreational, is pretty much what it sounds like. Viewers who fell into this category watched, on average, 24 minutes of ~naughty~ movies a week and tended to be men and women in relationships.

The second, though, found that a portion of participants felt shame, self-disgust and guilt after watching, on average, 17 minutes of porn a week.

And the third? Apparently compulsive viewers copped a whopping 110 minutes of porn weekly and were most likely to be men trying to compensate for a lack of sexual interactions in real life.

So, um... Which one are you?
