There Are More Than 150 Remakes Or Sequels In The Pipeline
If it feels as though there’s a ton of reboots, remakes and sequels, you’d be right.
Like, what happened to original filmmaking in Hollywood?
The thing is, if they didn’t make money, they wouldn’t be made.
But exactly how many are being made?
Reddit user halifaxMilkDud listed 56 flicks that are expected on our screens this year (scroll down for that list) but there are reportedly more than 150 movie sequels currently in some form of talks or production.
At last count, it was 153.
Terminator 6, Toy Story 4, Bad Dads (a spin-off from the success of Bad Moms, which itself looks likely to get a third instalment) are all on the cards, but some are still looking for a little more support.
A second Simpsons movie, Coming To America 2, American Pie 5 and Bill & Ted 3 are among those that are still at a spitballing stage, so nothing concrete.
There is also intent to get a sequel to Twins off the ground. Naturally called Triplets, it’s expected that Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito would reprise their roles, but no confirmation (yet) that Eddie Murphy will sign on, as rumoured.
