Uber Is About To Get A Whole Lot Cheaper
If you’ve ever wanted to get from point A to B with maybe a pitstop at a point C for an insanely low price, the launch of UberPOOL is bound to get you jumping around with excitement.
The concept of UberPOOL allows riders to share a trip with complete strangers to cut down the cost of their trips. If you’ve ever taken a trip to the US before, you’d be familiar with the concept, but next week marks the first time the service has hit Australian shores.
The way it works goes like this: You request your Uber as usual, but instead of getting the ride all to yourself, the app will match you up with additional riders heading in the same direction that you are. To make this possible, you will be given directions or where to walk to be picked up in one convenient spot with the other passengers who you will then jump into the Uber with. Once everyone has been dropped off at their individual destination, the cost of the ride will be split amongst all riders.
A statement released Thursday 29 March by Uber Australia & New Zealand GM Henry Greenacre states,’
“UberPOOL makes it easy and affordable for people going in a similar direction to share the trip. It’s carpooling at the push of a button. That means cheaper rides for passengers and less congestion on the city’s streets over time.
We’re excited to finally bring UberPOOL to Australia to kickstart a new wave in the
UberPOOL will begin rolling out in inner-Sydney areas starting Tuesday 3rd April.
