The REALLY Inappropriate Question Presenter Asked Jim Carrey
You may have seen a video going around yesterday afternoon of Jim Carrey on the red carpet at the Harper’s Bazaar Icons party.
The E! News presenter stopped Carrey on the red carpet for an interview and an awkward, confusing conversation ensued.
Many thought Carrey was losing it when he exclaimed, “There’s no meaning to any of this. I wanted to find the most meaningless thing I could come to and join and here I am.”
“They’re celebrating icons inside, do you believe in icons?” the E! News presenter bravely asked.
“Boy, that is just the absolute lowest-aiming possibility that we could come up with. I don’t believe that you exist but there is a lovely fragrance in the air,” Carrey told her, before bizarrely bursting into a James Brown impersonation.
What everyone didn’t hear, was what the E! News presenter started the interview with, that’s being called ‘highly inappropriate’.
She started the interview with, ’Is it true you’re wandering the streets, you need a date to the party? What’s up?’ she asked the star, who lost his girlfriend to suicide two years ago this month.
(the moment just after she asked about him looking for a 'date for the party'.)
It was at that point you see Jim’s face change. He shrugs it off by saying, ’no no I’m doing just fine.’
Then the ‘crazy spiel’ ensues…
For some reason, most news outlet chose not to cover that part, which is strange, given the relevance and how it kicked off the setting for the entire interview…
Do you think it was the right thing to ask?
