Australian Summers Will Never Be The Same Thanks To This

Sunnyboy ice blocks. R.I.P.

The ice blocks have now been confirmed to be no more by the Daily Juice Co. who say they have seen a ‘’sustained reduction in consumer demand” over time.

“The Daily Juice Co can confirm that we have regrettably had to make the hard decision to stop production of the icy treat, Sunnyboy, as of August 2016,” a spokesperson for the company said. “Unfortunately, Sunnyboy has experienced a sustained reduction in consumer demand over a long period, making it necessary to delete the product from our range of water ice treats.”

Sunnyboys were well known for their distinctive tetrahedral shape.

The blocks were popular all the way through the 1990s as they were sold cheaply throughout tuck shops, stores and milk bars across Australia.

The flavours were never called by their flavour, more by shortened or distinctive names. Raspberry was known as ‘Razz’, lime is a ‘zap’ and cola was called ‘Glug.’ There was even a pineapple flavour called ‘Pow’ which was best known was ‘Big Daddy’ in the 90s.

There is some positive news; the Daily Juice Co say customers are ‘still be able to purchase all our other popular brands, including Zooper Dooper and Quelch.’

But still. We love you Sunnyboys.
