The Time Girls Are Most Likely To Cheat Has Been Revealed

We're sorry to have to be the ones to tell you this but it turns out that all of those rumours and old wives' tales about the seven year itch are true.

A study published in the Journal of Sex Research has looked at more than 400 people's cheating habits and found the period of time they're most likely to stray from their long-term relationships.

And, for women, that window of wandering falls right between six years and 10 years of marriage - or right around that seven year mark.

Researchers think that the results probably have something to do with what's generally going on during that time of marriage; that's usually when women are approaching middle-age with the same partner and are dealing with the pressure of raising kids.

In the early stages of a relationship, women are still enjoying the honeymoon phase and after 10 years they're pretty settled, which makes sense when you think about it.

What's really interesting, though, is when men tend to stray; according to the study, men are more likely to cheat around the 11 year mark, believed to be due to a combination of mid-life crises and "an evolutionary desire to make babies".

Of course these are just statistics and not proof that your partner is, has been or will ever be cheating on you but, you know.

Something to keep in mind.
