Cheap and cheerful (can be as low as $50 Aud)
Horison Hotel – Seminyak
Set just a couple hundred meters to Double Six beach this boutique hotel is very basic yet surprisingly comfortable. Basic rooms have large king sized beds and are very clean and functional.
The hotel is set around a communal swimming pool that’s a really good size. The pool is underutilized so there is usually a lot of space to have a splash. There is also a good amount of day beds around it and a sun deck overlooking the pool.
The food whilst basic is a good quality and exceptional value. The buffet breakfast is huge and really good quality and value for money. If the room option includes breakfast snap that up.
The staff are super friendly and helpful.

IZE Hotel Seminyak (can be as low as $100 Aud)
Sitting in the middle of the world famous Eat Street Ize hotel offers incredible value for money.
The rooms are really modern and spotless. A funky design leaves you feeling like you are in a much more glamorous boutique hotel.
The crowd is young and fun with everything you need at your doorstep. The hotel has a small but gorgeous ground floor pool that lines the balcony rooms but is rarely used by other guest. On the roof is a fabulous pool with a bar that looks amazing but is seldom used. Great for a swim but lacking in the party vibe you’d expect from a bail rooftop pool.
The ground floor café serves breakfast lunch and dinner and provides good value for money with a some local cuisine but a very good western menu that’s prepared to a good quality.
The Hanging Garden Ubud – A honey mooners paradise
Self-described as the world’s first 7 star resort this hotel has a swag of awards under its belt including world’s best spa and on several sites it’s credited with having one of the worlds best pools. The two tier infinity pool overlooking the Ubud forest doesn’t disappoint.
This stunning resort is one of the most peaceful places I have been to. set on the side of a cliff it’s appointed with cable car’s to get you up and down the various levels from the lobby to the main dining and pool area and down to the riverside spa and café.
The villas have private infinity pools that mostly lead straight out from the bedroom and overlook one of the world’s most beautiful rainforests.
The suits are really lovely with private decks, private cabanas. Each room is well appointed and has everything you need, you may not want to leave the room.
This hotel has a host of experiences for you to indulge in from a huge spa menu to high tea and a massive array of dining experiences. Whilst it rates itself as a foodies paradise I wasn’t wowed by the food at all. What it lacked in amazing food it made up tenfold in wow factor with experiences. One must do for loved up couples is the “dinner by the pool”. The resort literally build a deck in the middle of the pool and set up a table for 2. One of the most romantic indulgences you will ever experience.
Robert Marchetti Plantation Grill – Seminyak
Not only the bets restaurant in Bali but one of my favorite’s in the world. This restaurant transports you to another time and place.
This opulent design embodies twenties style luxury and no detail has been left out. The centerpiece is the enormous spiral stair case surrounded by double height vaulted ceilings that meet the vast glamourous marble walls and floors. The leather booths flank the huge windows overlooking the sea this entire place is breathtaking.
With The man behind famous restaurants the likes of Icebergs and North Bondi Italian and now creative food Director for QT Hotel Robert Marchetti at the helm rest assured that the menu matches the décor with an incredible selection prepared to the highest quality. The specialty is dry aged exclusively sourced meat and line- caught seafood cooked over custom made coal and wood fire ovens. The man is a genius.
Also enjoy sunset drink on the rooftop bar and if you dare ask to have a look at VIP room that hides behind the mirrored walls, you will feel like you’re in old world Hollywood.
Be Prepared the be transported to 1960’s Mexico with one of the most dynamic restaurants in Bali.
From the moment you walk in you will forget where you are. The scene is set from the street where the colorful street front doesn’t fit in at all. The staff greet you wearing a smile that never seems to fade and the cutest outfits that resemble more of a retro American diner
Long tables accommodate groups small and large and the pumping music at all times of the day and night set the scene for a heck of a good time.
The food is absolutely incredible and is a cross between comida Mexicana and street food morsels of the highest quality.
But it’s not all about the food there’s a huge focus on the booze too and boy what a selection.
After dinner is when the fun really kicks in. The waiters come entertainers commence the dancing to old time favorites like the Macarena and living on a prayer and the entire place erupts into a dance party. If you think it’s not for you, think again. With the majority of the restaurant starting to dance on the tables encouraged by the staff who are now poring tequila into everyone’s mouths you won’t be able to help yourself but to join in.
One of the best nights out in bali without a doubt.

Water Sports – Nusa Dua
There’s several locations in Nusa Dua to indulge in your favorite water sports and all at a fraction of the cost of what you’d be used to.
Safety isn’t top of mind in Bali so be extra careful where you choose to go. The best suggestion is on the beach on front of the Grand Aston Bali Beach resort. For a small fee you can actually have a day pass for the report which allows you to set up on a day bed and use their gorgeous pool complete with swim up bar.
The water sports are varied and include doughnut boat, Jet Ski, Banana Boat and Parasailing. The watersports are loads of fun and the rules almost non existent.
Lunch at St Regis – Nusa Dua
This is one of the most gorgeous hotels in Bali with the most incredible manicured gardens and lagoon pool with man-made beach that wraps around the entire property.
The trick to experiencing this luxury without the price tag is to book a lunch at the Kayuputi restaurant. The restaurant overlooks the main pool and the best beach in Bali.
Ask the front desk to take you in the complimentary buggy to the restaurant and enjoy the tour through the lush gardens.
The food is amazing and the service is our of this world. Live like a king if only for a couple of hours.

If you have ever read anything about Bali no doubt you’ve heard of Potato head and that’s for a good reason its heaven on earth.
A cross between a pool bar and a day club the energy here is electric. The building and surrounds are immense and everything here is top quality.
Laze on a day bed and be waited on by the over staffed pool team or swim up to the pool bar and order delicious cocktails. The food is also top class here from King fish ceviche to burgers and chunky chips nothing disappoints.
The pool is often full but everyone is typically in a good mood and talkative, this can be the best place in Bali to meet new people.
Note the day beds cannot be reserved and they fill up every single day as soon as it opens. Arrive early and wait in the line or get your name on the wait list as soon as you arrive.
Semara Beach House – Events and Weddings
Forget Disney Land this is the happiest place on earth. This place is pure paradise and trumps any event space I have ever seen.
Set on 1.2 hectares of lush lawns overlooking the Ocean this property will take your breath away. The Hamptons Style homestead is vast featuring sleeping quarters for 25 people, a 30 meter swimming pool, poolside gazebo and the best sunsets in Bali Semara Beach House is the most stunning beachfront property Bali has to offer.
Exclusively for weddings and events you can now only rent this property for 24 hours but it will be the best 24 hours of your life.

Hands down the best customer service I have ever experienced the property over caters on staff making sure your every wish is met. I don’t think the staff here even know the word no.
Also with a world class chef the catering for your event is taken care of with menu’s adapted to your tastebuds, nothing is too much trouble.
Adjoining world famous Finns beach club and under the same group means you have the added advantage of joining the part next door at any time.
Semara Beach house is one of the most exceptional travel experience I have ever had.
