Gender Reveal Party Sparks 47,000-Acre Wildfire
If you need any proof that these gender reveal parties are getting out of hand, it’s this.
Dennis Dickey, 37, has to pay more than $8 million in restitution after the gender reveal party he threw ended up starting a wildfire in Arizona.
The off-duty border patrol agent’s plan was to shoot a rifle at a target containing Tannerite, an explosive substance that would have revealed either blue powder for a boy or pink powder for a girl.
He shot the target, but the explosion started a fire which burned nearly 47,000 acres of Arizona’s Coronado National Forest.
His multi-million-dollar restitution will start with a $100,000 initial payment and monthly payments thereafter, the Department of Justice said in a statement.
After all this, Dickey did not reveal the gender of his baby.
