One Dead After Light Plane Crash In WA's Great Southern

UPDATE: One person has been killed after a light plane crashed in WA's Great Southern region on Tuesday morning.

Earlier, four fire crews had been sent to the site, reportedly near the intersection of the Denmark - Mt Barker Road and Spencer Road in Denbarksouth- south-west of Mt Barker.

RAC Rescue helicopter was also sent.

Local dairy farmer Pieter Mostert had told the ABC his wife heard the crash.

"My wife heard the explosion from up at the house, 700 metres away from the dairy and then my co-worker had full sight of it," he said.

"We saw the plume of smoke come up from over the ridge."
