Student Suffers Burns After Setting HSC Notes On Fire
As year 12 students across NSW received their HSC marks, one teenager took his celebration of the end of exams too far and ended up in hospital with serious burns.
The 18-year-old had to be airlifted to hospital after he set his HSC notes on fire.
He had apparently poured accelerant to the papers about 9am on Thursday before setting them alight.
He suffered partial thickness burns to his right arm and torso after the papers burst into flames.
“He called it in himself as he was home alone,” said a NSW spokeswoman. “His mum came home a short time later.”
A CareFlight helicopter arrived at the scene and treated the man before airlifting him to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition.
