Woman Scammed Over $20,000 By Chris Hemsworth Impersonator

A mother-of-two has lost over $20,000 after she was tricked into thinking Chris Hemsworth was wooing her on social media.

A man pretending to be Chris Hemsworth approached the woman on Twitter, sending her love letters over a period of two months.

The 42-year-old from Russia was reportedly contacted by a fake social media profile in Chris Hemsworth's name.

The first message to the woman read: "Hey, I am Chris Hemsworth, I am a famous actor from Australia, I live in California. You are so pretty, can we chat?"

The Siberian Times report that the impersonator managed to convince the mother into taking out a $20,000 loan, which would be used to pay for parking for the actor's private jet ahead of their upcoming romantic affair.

While she initially wasn't a fan of the actor, she became infatuated with The Avengers star once the messages started rolling in, making her believe that he was lonely. The 42-year-old googled the star and was aware that he was a married father-of-three, but didn't question it as her marriage was on the rocks.

"I thought, what if he was in the same situation as I was, that on the face of it we were both married and at the same time very lonely," the woman told the publication.

It is understood that a mock-up of the 35-year-old's ID was also sent to the woman from the actor's 'lawyer'. He reportedly told the woman that Hemsworth desperately wanted to visit her in Siberia but was having financial problems, so if she transferred him the money, he would pay her back.

"He needed money to pay for a visa, insurance and parking for his private jet in Siberia," a local police source said.

"The lawyer asked her to transfer money and sent her Chris’s driving license as a guarantee of a payback."

Despite googling Chris Hemsworth earlier, the 42-year-old failed to research how a Victorian drivers license looks like, as the mock-up looks significantly different and features a red carpet image of the actor. The actor also resides in Byron Bay, not Melbourne.

It has been reported that as soon as the woman transferred the large sum, the fake social media profiles were deleted.

The events occurred not too long after Chris Hemsworth was named by Forbes magazine as one of the World's Highest Paid actors, earning US $31.5m in 2017.
