Eamon Sullivan Had Us In Stitches Over This Chicken Sandwich
To say that Eamon Sullivan has fingers in many pies is an understatement. Especially as being the owner of three nosheries, it’s not unusual for him to literally have fingers in many, well, actual pies.
One particular item on the menu at the former Olympian’s third foodie instalment, the May Street Larder, has quickly become an institution.
Behold: The Soul Sandwich.
Fried chicken on a waffle with avocado, smoked sour cream, chilli maple syrup and jalapenos.
I’ll let you think about that for a second.
Anyway, in the lead-up to the café serving up its 20,000th Soul Sandwich, Sullivan wanted to make a bit of a big deal of it – by giving whoever ordered number 20,000 a free Soul Sandwich every week for an entire year.
“We thought it’d be great to hire a chicken suit,” he told Carmen and Fitzi
“So, whoever got the 20,000th sandwich, we were going to come out and have a bit of a song and dance, we thought it was going to be a great PR angle.”
Famous last words.
Here’s how it went down…
