David Mundy Opens Up About Jeremy McGovern's MONSTER Deal

West Coast Eagle Jeremy McGovern’s contract extension is set to make him the highest-paid WA footy player in the competition.

The deal is reportedly worth an eyewatering $6 million over five years – about $1.2 million a season.

It had been rumoured that McGovern was being courted by other clubs, including the Fremantle Dockers.

It was the first question Lise posed to Freo’s David Mundy on Tuesday morning.

“I’m not sure he was meant to go [to Fremantle] but he would’ve been lovely to have,” Mundy said.

“Clearly West Coast have come to the table and looked after him and his family and good on him.”

Mundy also said that McGovern was “worth” the monster million-dollar deal.

Speaking of negotiations, Mundy commented on his own contract talks, and the fact that they’ve started.

“Have you said, ‘give me the McGovern deal’?” Paul joked.

“I have,” Mundy said. “And they laughed at me.”

Mundy also touched on:

- How a club approaches a player if they’re interested in him

- How he, as a now-40-year-old, keeps fit

- Nat Fyfe’s modelling prowess in the paper on the weekend
