Goalie’s Weird 'Feeling' That Got Glory To The Grand Final
More than 50,000 fans are expected to pack out Optus Stadium for Perth Glory’s grand final against Sydney FC on Sunday.
Goalie Liam Reddy gave Paul & Lise some insight into the epic penalty shootout in the semi-final against Adelaide United.
“When Diego Castro missed his penalty, he went to the keeper’s right,” Reddy explained.
“The first penalty I saved was Isaías [Sánchez] who was also a Spanish player.”
That’s when Reddy’s intuition sort of kicked in.
“It was just some feeling of ‘well, he’s Spanish, they went there, he might go there’,” he said.
“And as he was running into the ball, I’m like, ‘he’s actually gonna go there’, I’ll dive there then’.”
Of course, Reddy made the save.
“Inside, I was obviously excited, but inside I was just giggling, ‘I can’t believe I’ve done that’.”
Reddy then admitted he needed to get all the Sydney FC players’ nationalities down so he’ll know which way they’ll kick on Sunday.
