Perth Scorchers Superfan Was 'Just Watching The Cricket'

It wasn’t just the Perth Scorchers who had an ordinary result on Thursday night.

Cricket Australia has confirmed that Scorchers superfan James 'Choombies' Keating has been banned from all matches for three years.

The sanction was imposed shortly after Choombies was evicted from Optus Stadium just an hour into the BBL semi-final where the Scorchers were bowled out for 139 in 17.5 overs.

However, Choombies says he did nothing to justify the booting from the venue, telling 96FM’s Paul & Lise he was “just watching the cricket”.

Lise then told Choombies that when you want to find out stuff you go straight to the source.

“And that source is Facebook,” she said.

“Your mate Kevin has done a bit of a synopsis of what he saw.”

Choombies said his friend’s account was “pretty much” what went down.

During his arrest, PerthNow reported that Choombies commented that he believed he and the One Day International streaker were the only two to have experienced the stadium's lock-up to date.

WA Police had issued a statement confirming that Choombies was arrested and is set to face court on charges of behaving in a disorderly manner and failing to comply with a request to give over personal details.

Choombies was recently kicked out of the WACA for allegedly swearing at Melbourne Renegades players.

He is expected to appear at Perth Magistrates Court on February 20.
