Second-Best Air Guitarist In The World Sets Sights On #1
By day, he’s a Perth teacher. By night, he’s the ‘The Jinja Assassin’.
And while Alex Roberts' stage name sounds like he’s an extra Mortal Kombat character, he’s second-best air guitarists in the world.
On Friday, The Jinja Assassin joined Paul & Lise in the studio in the lead-up to his journey to finally bag the top spot at this year’s World Air Guitar Championships in Finland.
But for some, being second-best can still feel like first.
“You were stopped by Border Control last time you went to the US,” Lise said.
The Jinja Assassin said that, at the time, he explained to authorities that he had arrived in the US from Helsinki.
“They said ‘what were you doing over there?’” he said.
He said they didn’t believe him.
“Dude turns around on his chair and says, ‘where you competing or were you watching?’ and I said ‘mate, I was competing’.”
The Jinja Assassin explained how the officer on the chair asked for his name before Googling ‘The Jinja Assassin’.
“What comes up?” he said.
“Me, shirtless, on stage, in zero degrees, tweakin’ my nipples!”
Not only did the officer ask for an autograph but stuck it to the wall before saying that he was free to go.
The Jinja covered the following:
- How many air-guitars he owns versus how many he travels with (and their names LOLLL)
- Which songs he prefers to air guitar to
- The epic story of how he got into it
AND OF COURSE, HE GAVE US A NOT-TO-BE-MISSED PERFORMANCE OF AC/DC’S BACK IN BLACK... check it out in the vid up top.
