So, It Seems Queen-Size Beds For Kids Are A Thing
OK, so, show of hands, is having a queen-size bed a thing?
Let me rephrase that: is having a queen-size bed – for a young child – a thing?
While it’s almost uncommon for an adult to have a single bed, it seems to be that bigger beds, particularly double and queen-sizes, are becoming common for young children.
“A single bed is apparently ‘too baby’,” Lise said, referring to her 8-year-old daughter, who has been eyeing off the queen-size bed in the spare room.
While Lise was considering getting her daughter a new bed, because she needed a new one, her daughter said something Lise wasn’t exactly prepared for.
“[She said] ‘I don’t want the single bed anymore mummy, I wasn’t one of those beds’ and she pointed to the queen-size bed.”
Thing is, after a bit more investigating, Lise discovered yet another thing she wasn’t expecting.
“You know how you have doona covers… and sheets?” Lise asked Paul.
“Yeah?” he replied.
“Oh, they do them, for kids, in queen size”
Paul stopped in his tracks.
“You mean in kids patterns and stuff like that?”
“Absolutely, all queen size.”
But Lise took it a step (even) further by saying she saw probably more queen-size bedding for children than there were single-size.
“So, they’re encouraging them in the department stores to move into bigger beds?” paul asked.
“Absolutely!” Lise said.
“At what point are you shopping for your daughter or your son, that’s queen-size, and they’re like five?”
