Tom Percy QC: Gaff "Doesn’t Deserve To Play AFL... Ever”
A prominent Perth QC says isn't backing away from a statement he posted to social media over Eagle Andrew Gaff's punch that broke the jaw of Fremantle's Andrew Brayshaw.
On Monday, Lise read out a statement that Tom Percy posted to social media.
"Andrew Gaff, what can you say, he doesn’t deserve to play AFL again, ever,” she read.
"There is a prima facie case for a police investigation - I’ve had people go to jail for less... [Brayshaw] was the victim of a cowardly attack"
Paul & Lise got Tom Percy on the Breakfast show to explain further.
"You’re not backing away from any of that statement you made on the socials last night, Tom?" Paul asked.
“What’s there to back away from?” he replied.
Tom Percy also cleared up that he was not calling for Andrew Gaff to be jailed or dealt with by the police, but that he expected that police will probably look into it.
“If he was someone who had done that in a suburban football league, I would think he would already be in custody,” he said.
Brayshaw, 18, underwent surgery on Sunday night to repair his jaw and three displaced lower teeth, which have been put back into place and splinted. He has been ruled out for the remainder of the AFL season.
Gaff apologised for the unprovoked off-the-ball punch, saying he did the wrong thing and it made him feel sick. He is yet to face the AFL tribunal.
