Absolute icon Sir Ian Holm, universally known for his role as Bilbo Baggins in Lord Of The Rings has passed away.
Aged 88, Sir Holm had been suffering from illnesses related to Parkinson’s.
BBC News reported the statement released from his agent on the 19th of June.
“It is with great sadness we can confirm that the actor Sir Ian Holm CBE passed away this morning at the age of 88. He died peacefully in hospital with his family and carer.”
Sir Ian Holm also left his mark in other iconic films such as Alien and The Fifth Element.
Tributes have started pouring in on social media with his co-stars and colleagues celebrating his life.
