Perth lad and F1 champ Daniel Ricciardo is being mildly roasted by fans after posting what seemed to be a case of mistaken geography.
While on a season break in the US, Ricciardo took a selfie from behind the famous Hollywood sign in Los Angeles.
But it’s the caption that has his followers doing a double-take.
“The Big Apple. Wow. What a place,” he wrote.

Of course, The Big Apple is the nickname for New York City.
“Wait…” said one follower.
“Who’s going to tell him?” asked another.
Other comments included:
“Those geography skills are A++”
“Isn’t that the Eiffel Tower?? learn geography smh (shake my head).”
“Nice view from the Empire State bro.”
Thing is, Ricciardo is a total larrikin and it’s likely he was trolling his own audience, with only a few picking up on it.
“LOL to everyone who feels the need to point out that he’s in LA and not NYC…… you completely missed the joke #aussietakingthepiss,” insisted one.
