Get your leather and Pink Ladies jackets ready, it looks like we’re heading back to Rydell High!
Forty-one years after the movie Grease hit our screens and gave us songs and dances that we still know off by heart today, it looks like it’s getting a reboot.
But not with another film.
Word on the street is that Grease will get TV spin-off series titled Grease: Rydell High.
As the name suggests, it will be set at the same high school that brought Danny and Sandy together. Like the film, it will take us back to the 50s with big musical number and original songs.
It’s also set to feature some of the original characters but will be more focused on a bunch of new ones as they navigate the world of high school.
“This is high school and life in small-town USA told on the scale of a big rock ’n’roll musical,” said Sarah Aubrey, head of content at HBO Max, according to Metro.
“It’s Grease 2.0 but with the same spirit, energy and excitement you immediately think of when you hear any of these iconic songs.”
HBO Max has given the series a full-season order and it’s set to be released next year, although no premiere date has been confirmed just yet.
This is going to be ELECTRIFYING!! BRB, we’re off to practice our hand jive…
