Footage of a baby formula buying frenzy has got viral after being uploaded to Reddit on Sunday.
The video was captured at a Woolworths supermarket in Melbourne.
Redditor BeBa420 posted the clip which had been shot at 8am on the dot.
“There was a line from one end of the supermarket to the other full of people carrying boxes of baby formula,” they explained.
“They were all buying the exact same thing.”
That exact same thing was baby formula.
Personal shoppers, known as ‘daigou’, are used to send products back to China, whether for profit or to supply family and friends.
They also said that after speaking to the cashier, they learned it was a common scenario after getting their weekly delivery.
Yahoo7 News reported that that a store manager at the Chadstone store refused to reveal the amount of formula customers are allowed to buy despite there being a limit.
“There was a line from one end of the supermarket to the other full of people carrying boxes of baby formula,” BeBa420 said.
“I feel bad for Australian parents,” another Redditor commented.
“I had no idea it was this bad,” said another.
“I don’t think Woolworths and Coles honestly give a shit about the formula as long as it’s sold.”
