Great Southern Land was the lead single for 1982’s Primitive Man album and has since become Australia’s unofficial anthem.

After writing it, Davies told The Bunch he simply took it into the manager’s office and said, “Well, only 11 to go.”

Thing is, his manager had an amazingly positive reaction, clearly not what Davies was expecting.
