Footage of actor Jamie Costa playing Robin Williams has left the world stunned with noise building over when a biopic will be made.
Titled ‘ROBIN Test Footage Scene’, Costa posted the five-minute scene to his YouTube channel, showing a scene featuring himself as Williams and Sarah Murphree as Pam Dawber on the set of ‘Mork & Mindy’.
In the scene, Williams is getting ready to film when his co-star Pam Dawber informs him that comedian John Belushi had died that morning.
That spurs an emotional reaction in Jamie, who is initially in denial, saying, “No, I told you, I was with him. John’s not dead, I was with him last night.”
For context, John Belushi died in 1982 at just 33 years old from a drug overdose.
Belushi and Williams were close friends in real life.
In 2014, Williams took his own life, leaving an undeniable void in Hollywood and in the hearts of millions of fans worldwide.
In the years following, there had always been a lingering question of who would be up to par when it came time to play the role of the late great actor if a film about his life were to be made.
The comments section of this video seem to answer that question, with fans overwhelmed at Costa’s impression.
“This is just incredible,” one person wrote. “The little mannerisms, the looks, the from joking Robin to serious Robin in seconds is done flawlessly. I genuinely hope if a Robin Williams biopic is made that Jamie plays him because he would do if justice and with respect.”
“This is absolutely incredible. Make this full length movie and hire this man NOW!” someone else commented.
“I cannot imagine what a daunting task it would be to portray such a HUGE personality that is so well-known,” another person wrote. “Well done.”
