The Premier said he’s tipping the Melbourne Demons to win this year’s Grand Final because he knows the pain of a team that doesn’t win very often.

Mark McGowan joined Clairsy & Lisa on Friday on the back of the decision to bring forward the Pfizer eligibility for West Aussies aged 60 and over, due to a string of slots becoming available at state-run vaccination clinics.

But when the conversation turned back to footy, McGowan straight-up said he was keen for the Dees to take the flag.

“They haven’t won since 1962 or something,” he said.

It was 1964 but close enough.

“It’s always nice to see a team that doesn’t win very often, bear in mind I support the Dockers.”

Lisa suggested that McGowan “knows the pain” of not winning an AFL premiership.

“I do, but their pain is much longer than ours… it’s been a lengthy pain, since before I was born even,” McGowan, who was born in 1967, replied.
