One of the most iconic video games of all time premiered in movie-form on Wednesday night, and not only was it filmed in Australia, the director is from Perth.

We’re not sure how a first-time feature film director managed to snag $80m to make Mortal Kombat, but it must have come in handy when shipping 30 tonnes of red dirt from Coober Pedy to a sound stage in Adelaide… to recreate Coober Pedy.
