The year was 1994 and the sweet, sweet fantasy that is Mariah Carey released a very festive Holiday album, simply titled ‘Merry Christmas’.
It spawned three well-received singles but the now eternal Christmas classic, All I Want For Christmas Is You hit the festive feels… hard… for many Christmas lovers around the world!
Despite all the popularity, the track never attained the #1 slot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the US until last year – some 25 years later.
Twenty-six years later, Billboard announced that All I Want For Christmas has topped the Hot 100 charts for the second time ever.
Carey has shared her joy across her social media accounts, simply writing ‘I don’t want a lot for Christmas…’ just wishing for a bit more JOY and some holiday spirit for all, especially this year.’
