The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announced its nominees for the class of 2021.

The incredible group of potential honourees were released overnight, featuring a diverse list of acts, including Mary J. Blige, Kate Bush, Devo, Foo Fighters, The Go-Go’s, Iron Maiden, JAY-Z, Chaka Khan, Carole King, Fela Kuti, LL Cool J, New York Dolls, Rage Against the Machine, Todd Rundgren, Tina Turner and Dionne Warwick.

Also overnight, the Foo Fighters appeared on The Howard Stern Show, who asked them who would they want to induct them.

Their answers – there were two – kind of blew our minds.

The band hadn’t even considered it, so Dave Grohl went out on a limb and suggested Stewart Copeland.

As in the drummer from The Police.

OK.

Grohl then launched into this amazing story behind why. Turns out that Copeland’s story almost fully mimicked why Grohl called the Foo Fighters the Foo Fighters in the first place.

Stern then asked the band if there was anyone else who should present them with the induction.

That’s when guitarist Pat Smear raised his hand… and it’s a doozy…
