Investing in a mate’s beer venture has turned into a million-dollar windfall for Fremantle Dockers champ, Nat Fyfe.
In 2015, Fyfe’s schoolmate and co-founder of Pirate Life brewery, Jack Cameron, approached Fyfe about investing in the fledgling business.
Despite being advised against it, The Herald Sun reported that Fyfe poured just shy of $100k into the Adelaide-based brewery anyway.
Fyfe, already one of the AFL’s highest paid players worth about $1.3m a year, hit the jackpot when Pirate Life was sold to beer giant Anheuser-Busch InBev.
