WARNING: The following story may be extremely distressing for some.
The parents of a newborn baby girl have shared a terrifying video of the moment he was reportedly dropped on her head by hospital staff.
Monique and Derrick Rodgers are now threatening legal action against the Chandler Regional Medical Centre, in Arizona, where their premature twins were born last February.
They report that their baby girl, Morgan, suffered a brain haemorrhage as a result.
Mr Rodgers was recording the birth when a nurse picked up the newborn baby with one hand.
The baby girl is seen slipping out of the hands of a nurse, landing head first on the bassinet.
A year on, Morgan’s parents are threatening legal action against the medical centre for never explaining why their daughter suffered a brain haemorrhage days after her birth.
Mrs Rodgers told Fox 10 Phoenix that just five days after her birth, the newborn underwent an ultrasound which showed she had suffered a grade 1 haemorrhage on the left side of her brain.
“It’s just traumatic,” she said.
“You go through this for nine months, and for them to just drop your baby. You don’t know if there’s going to be long-term damage, because nobody has talked to you.
“Nobody has brought it to your attention.”
