Paul McCartney has walked across the famous Abbey Road pedestrian crossing nearly 49 years to the day since The Beatles’ iconic album cover was taken on the exact same spot.

The cover for the band’s Abbey Road album was shot on August 8, 1969, by photographer Iain MacMillan, featuring all four Beatles on the pedestrian crossing, resulting in the spot becoming a shrine to the band as countless fans have flocked to the spot to recreate the moment.

McCartney walked across the road on his way to an intimate gig at Abbey Road Studios, with his daughter Mary filming the historic moment.

Inside the famous studio, McCartney performed a set of lesser known Beatles tracks as well as a handful of classics for a small audience of lucky fans.

McCartney releases his new album ‘Egypt Station’ on September 7.

The first two tracks from it – ‘I Don’t Know’ and ‘Come On To Me’ were released last month.
