The floor manager best known as ‘Lucky Phil’ from Hey Hey it’s Saturday has died.
Phil Lambert was 71 when he passed away over the weekend.
Lambert was the longest-serving staff member Channel Nine’s GTV when he retired in 2019 after 50 years in the camera department and staging, including as floor manager.
During his time at Nine, he worked with some of the biggest names in television, including Graham Kennedy, Bert Newton, Don Lane, Ernie Sigley, Denise Drysdale, Eddie McGuire and, of course, Daryl Somers.
For 50 years, he worked at @Channel9 Melbourne in staging and camera in many productions, but he gained a cult following as “Lucky Phil” as @heyheysaturday‘s floor manager.
