Gamblers in Western Australia could soon be betting on virtual horse and greyhound racing as the state government considers adding popular electronic gaming options in a potential sale of the state-owned TAB.

The simulated racing products, already available in other states, are currently banned under WA gaming regulations, but a discussion paper recently released by Treasurer Ben Wyatt on the proposed sale of the betting agency says such options may be allowed in TAB outlets and pub TABs.

Mr Wyatt said virtual racing products would increase a new TAB operator’s ability to support the racing industry, but such a move would result in “strict regulatory controls”, the ABC reports on Wednesday.
