McDonald’s have been caught off-guard as it turns out their April Fools’ joke burger is actually the burger people want.

The McPickle was uploaded to Instagram on April 1, with the caption that it was the news that pickle-lovers had been waiting for.

“Pickle lovers, it’s the news you’ve all been waiting for. We’re super stoked to announce the launch of our brand new McPickle Burger. It’s time to tuck into juicy, flavoursome pickles layered between melted cheese, ketchup sauce and toasted sesame seed buns. It’s sure to be a treat for all your senses,” read the caption.

Thing is, to pickle-lovers, this was no damn joke – a double-decker burger made up of pickles layered between cheese and ketchup was seemingly EXACTLY what they had been waiting for.

“Omfg if this is April Fools’ joke imma be mad.”

“This shouldn’t be a joke.”

“April fools aaaaaahhhh very funny maccas very.”

“I WISH this wasn’t an #AprilFool”

“Hahaha as much as I know this is April Fools, I actually wish this was real.”

“I wish! I’m sure it’s an april fools day joke.”

So would McDonald’s Australia actually consider the McPickle?

“We know there’s a lot of love out there for our famous pickles,” they told

“…and the McPickle Burger has certainly got people talking about them. We’re glad Australians have enjoyed our April Fools’ joke!”

We suspect not.
