A video of an unusual hack for salt and pepper has gone viral, and it’s easy to see why.

The problem is they’re called shakers, because that’s exactly what we’ve been doing wrong this whole time.

In the video, you can see that even a vigorous shake of the pepper produces a small amount of pepper. Which is fine if you just want a tiny bit.

But for those who (always) want more of the table staple, prepare yourselves because dreams are about to come true.

Turns out that instead of shaking, we need to be rubbing the bottom of the salt shaker around the bottom of the overturned pepper.

The result is a generous amount of pepper freely coming out of the shaker.

It’s thought that the technique of rubbing the two bottoms together causes a vibration that seems to get the grains of both salt or pepper flowing unhindered through the holes.
