Prime Minister Scott Morrison has put more travel restrictions in places, as well as reiterated the rules on mass gatherings of 500 people or more.
All people coming to Australia will need to self-isolate for 14 days on arrival from midnight tonight.
The Prime Minister also said that cruise ships will be banned for 30 days.
All states and territories will also be required to create legislation around social distancing to enforce the rules around mass gatherings of 500 people or more.
It is also recommended that people no longer use handshakes and that people practice distancing themselves from others at around 1-1.5 metres.
When it comes to schools, he has suggested that closures could be negative for multiple factors, however it is not off the table altogether. He said that communities are able to make decisions based on their own circumstances.
“The government can’t manage every hour of your life and tell you what to do every hour of the day but we can ask you to listen to the information and make your best judgments,” he said.
The government will also be releasing information soon about ANZAC Day shortly.
